€164,165 in Local Enhancement Funding for Cavan Projects

94 community projects across County Cavan have received funding under the Local Enhancement Programme 2026, following an announcement by Ministers Jerry Buttimer and Dara Calleary on Thursday, 2nd July.

The funding, which amounts to a €164,165 investment in communities across Cavan, will support projects that are essential for many small community groups and organisations. The funding is being allocated by the Department of Rural and Community, and the Gaeltacht and being administered by Cavan County Council, through the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC).

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Councillor Carmel Brady, has welcomed the funding, saying “Voluntary groups the length and breadth of Cavan are doing vital work in community development, and this funding will help support that work, increasing social cohesion and local integration. I want to applaud the successful groups and thank Ministers Calleary and Buttimer, along with their staff and the staff of Cavan County Council for their support and diligence”.

Announcing the funding, Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Jerry Buttimer TD said, “The Local Enhancement Programme is all about supporting our local groups and clubs across the country, who are vital to Irish community life. Every day as Minister of State in this Department, I have the pleasure of meeting the people and groups that benefit from grants under the LEP. The approval of these small grants for over 4,100 projects will go a long way to support the fantastic work that is being done in communities all over Ireland.”

Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, added, “The impact of the Local Enhancement Programme is considerable, and it allows community groups to carry out the invaluable work they do on behalf of others in local areas throughout the country. As Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, I am delighted to be able to continue providing any support I can to community groups across the country.”

Acting Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Brendan Jennings said, “This funding announcement by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht is most welcome, and will provide much-needed support for a vast array of community projects across the county, which will enhance quality of life for the communities they serve”.
