Poster Competition - Picking up after your dog matters!

We're calling on all primary school children aged 5-12 in Cavan to participate in an exciting poster competition to raise awareness about why picking up after your dog matters. Let’s work together to keep our community clean and safe for everyone!

Competition Details

The competition theme is 'Why Picking Up After Your Dog Matters'. The poster should encourage responsible pet ownership, highlight the negative effects of dog fouling, and promote cleanliness in public spaces, parks, and sidewalks.

Who can enter

Primary school children aged 5-12 years.

How to Enter

Posters should:

  • Be hand-drawn
  • Include bold, clear messaging about the importance of cleaning up after your dog.
  • Use bright colours and creative imagery to grab attention!

On the back of the poster please include:

  • Child's Name
  • Child's Age
  • Name of the school the child attends
  • Contact number
  • Contact email address

Then simply:

  • Drop your poster into Cavan Credit Union Main Street Cavan or the Customer Service Desk, 1st floor, Cavan County Council, Johnson Library, Farnham Street, or alternatively;
  • Post entries to Áine Boylan, Cavan County Council, Environmental Services, Old Reference Library, Farnham Street, Cavan, H12 RV10

Overall County Winner:

  • 1st Place: Win a special Prize and Your Poster will feature in Cavan County Council's Environmental Awareness Campaign for Dog Fouling!

Closing Date:

  • Entries must be submitted by: Friday, 30th May 2025

    • Keep the message simple and clear: Pick up after your dog!
    • Focus on positive, fun imagery—dogs, parks, and happy people!
    • Make sure your poster is eye-catching and easy to understand.

Eligibility: Open to all primary school children in Cavan.
