National Tree Week 2025

To celebrate National Tree Week, which takes place from Sunday, 9th March to Sunday, 16th March the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, with the support of Cavan County Council, are making a limited number of saplings available for free to voluntary community groups and those participating in Cavan County Council's Green Kilometre Scheme.

Any interested group must undertake to plant these saplings in a suitable public location, in their own community.

There will be a limited number of saplings available, and a priority ranking may be implemented for award of the sapling to groups.  They will be supplied on a first-come-first-served basis with preference given to community groups that have previously participated in National Tree Week.  Applicants who demonstrate where planting will happen, and the success of previous planted saplings/trees will be ranked higher. Please note that the number of trees you receive may be lower than the number requested.

To express your interest in availing of saplings, groups should request an application form from litterplan@cavancoco.ie. Applicants must then submit their completed application form to litterplan@cavancoco.ie or by post to Cavan County Council, Environmental Services, Old Library Building, Farnham Street, Cavan. The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Wednesday 26th February 2025

Groups will be notified in advance of National Tree Week if they have been allocated saplings.  Saplings will be available for collection from Environmental Services, Farnham Street, Cavan, H12RV10.
