Community Hubs open for those affected by storm damage

As the Storm Éowyn clean-up continues, Cavan County Council is working with local partners through the Cavan Community Forum to put in place local community hubs where those affected by power cuts and water outages can come and avail of facilities such as charging, heat, and tea/coffee.

The following community hubs are available to the public from 10am on Monday morning, 27th January for members of the public to come in and get a cup of tea or coffee, charge phones, or just avail of the heating!

  • Kingspan Breffni, Cavan Town
  • Bailieborough Business Centre
  • Kingscourt Community Centre
  • Virginia Show Centre
  • Market House, Blacklion
  • Tomregan Hall, Ballyconnell
  • Goods Store Community Centre, Belturbet Railway Station, H14 E276
  • Killeshandra Resource Centre
  • Killeshandra GAA clubrooms
  • Tullacmongan Resource Centre, Cavan Town
  • Kilian's Lodge, Mullagh
  • Cavan Swimming Pool and Leisure Centre
  • Teach Oscail Resource Centre, Cavan (8am to 8pm Monday and Tuesday)
  • Cavan Civil Defence HQ, Pullamore, Cavan

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr TP O'Reilly hailed the community spirit of the people of Cavan in dealing with this historic storm, saying, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the phenomenal response from the community across the county in the face of this unprecedented disruption to basic services and the needs of our citizens".

Uisce Éireann has made available alternative water supplies via tankers at the following locations:

  • Mullagh – Playground Virginia Rd
  • Cross – Cross Chapel
  • Kingscourt – SuperValu Kells Rd
  • Ballinagh – Community Playground
  • Ballyhaise – St Mary's Church
  • Ballyconnell – Kildallon GAA grounds
  • Belturbet – Centra Old Cavan Rd 
  • Swanlinbar – Rear of filling station (from 2pm Monday)
