Road Closures - Mullagh, St Kilian's Relics
A number of road closures will be in effect in Mullagh for the return of St Kilian's Relics to County Cavan between 3rd and 6th October.
All temporary closing of roads is pursuant to Section 75 of Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of Roads Regulations 1994
Road to be closed:
The R194 will be closed from Cloughballybeg (Holy Well) to the junction with the L7108 in Mullagh town from 6pm until 11pm on Thursday, 3rd October.
Alternative Routes:
- Westbound (Virginia to Mullagh): Divert in Virginia at R194/N3 Mullagh Rd junction staying on the N3 southbound. Turn left in Whitegate onto L3021 towards Mullagh
- Eastbound (Mullagh to Virginia): The same alternative routes in reverse will apply.
Local access between Virginia and Cloughballybeg will be facilitated.
Road to be closed:
The R194 will be closed from the L7046 junction to the junction with the R191 (Bailieborough Rd) in Mullagh town from 9am until 2pm on Saturday, 5th October to facilitate the visit of the Relics of St Kilian.
Alternative Routes:
- West bound (Virginia to Mullagh): Divert in Virginia at R194/N3 Mullagh Rd junction staying on the N3 southbound, turn left in Whitegate onto L3021 towards Mullagh.
- East bound (Mullagh to Virginia): The same alternative routes in reverse will apply.
Local access between the Virginia and the L7046 will be facilitated.
Road to be closed
The R194, Main St Mullagh will be closed from the R191 (Bailieborough Rd) junction to Mullagh Sports Center on the R194 Moynalty Road in Mullagh town for two one hour periods between the hours of 9am and 4pm on Saturday, 5th October 2024 to facilitate a procession between St Kilian’s Church and Mullagh Sports Centre during the visit of the Relics of St Kilian.
Alternative Routes
The closure will be a short-term rolling closure with routes into the town on the L3010, L7131, L7130, L7048, L3020, R191 being closed on an ‘All Stop’ basis for short periods while the procession passes.
Emergency access only will be facilitated during this closure.
