Cavan County Council Publishes 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report

Cavan County Council has published its Gender Pay Gap Report for 2024, with the latest pay data showing the local authority’s median gender pay gap has narrowed.

The gender pay gap is the difference in the average hourly wage of men and women across a workforce. Employers with more than 250 employees in Ireland are now required to publish their gender pay gap data. 

The 2024 report shows a Gender Pay Gap of 3.26% (mean) and -10.07% (median), compared with a mean pay gap of -0.94% and a median of -14.23% in 2023.

Publishing our gender pay gap data helps to reinforce our focus on supporting an open and inclusive workplace at Cavan County Council. Our organisation is a place where all employees have the same opportunities for recognition and career development and are treated fairly and equitably at work. We continue to be committed to addressing workplace barriers to equality and creating an open and inclusive workplace community. Many equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives and supports are already in place, and we will continue to work in this area.

Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Mr Eoin Doyle, welcomed the publication of the report, saying “Cavan County Council is not only a major employer in the region, but also occupies an important leadership role in the community. As such, our commitment to reducing the gender pay gap is unwavering, both in our desire to ensure equitable treatment of our staff, and in our firm hope that other employers in the region will follow suit.”
