Cavan County Council launches first ever Climate Action Week
Climate Action Week aims to raise awareness about the actions we can take individually and locally, while showcasing ongoing projects and initiatives across the county. This week serves as a platform to inspire local action and drive positive change. Some events require booking.

Green for Business Event - Sustaining Your Business by Going Green

GAA Green Clubs Information Evening
Cavan County Board in conjunction with Cavan County Council are hosting an information evening to encourage more clubs to engage in the national Green Clubs programme. The event will highlight the success of clubs in securing Community Climate Action funding to deliver climate action projects and learn about the next stage of developing a Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) amongst clubs in the County. Local waste management and recycling businesses will also present on the services and initiatives they have available for clubs.

Art workshop - “When is a book not a book"

Join Bailieboro Creative Hub as they host a 2.5-hour workshop to explore the creative potential of repurposing a variety of materials.
Participants will learn about sustainable art practices, using recycling materials, and transforming books into unique pieces of art. Participants will engage in a hands-on activity, creating a piece of art from a book and explore the creative potential of repurposing materials for art projects.

Ballyjamesduff Men’s Shed Exhibition

Cavan County Local Development in association with Cavan County Councils Climate Action Week will host a free one day event in the County Museum. This event provides an opportunity to view the upcycling works of the local Men’s shed and the Redo like New project in the Ballyjamesduff area.

RTE Meteorologist - Joanne Donnelly

Join Joanne Donnelly RTE Meteorologist and author for a discussion of her book “From Malin Head to Mizen Head” in addition to a talk on climate change.
Joanna Donnelly takes readers on a journey around Ireland’s Sea Area Forecast, visiting the places that are a familiar part of the daily broadcast and explaining its unique history, language and science. Joanna will also discuss ever important impacts of Climate Change and weather patterns across Ireland.

Join us for Future Farm Signpost Programme Open Farm Event. The Signpost programme is a free programme available to all farmers.
It builds on the network of Signpost demonstration farms by providing enhanced advisory and training support to farmers to help them to select and implement climate and sustainability actions that are appropriate and impactful on their farms. The overall aim of the programme is to empower farm families to adopt technologies and production systems that will allow agriculture to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030 while maintaining farm profitability.

Story Time for kids with Climate Theme.

Join author Emma Murphy of book “Special Like You” in Belturbert Library for a reading event.
Learn about the importance of some of the tiniest garden creatures, the invertebrates and why they are slowly staring to decline. The book is also filled with fun facts, visually stimulating images and rhyming text that showcases just how important some of the small creatures truly are.
