Treats on the street for Cavan Calling

A carnival of some of the country's greatest street theatre, comedy, and circus shows will light up the centre of Cavan Town this Saturday, 29 July for the Cavan Calling Street Carnival.

Running from 1pm - 6pm in the historic grounds of the Cavan Number 1 School, opposite the bus station, magic will be in the air as the incredible street art installations and shows begin. A wonderworld of absurdity and fun dreamed up by some of the team behind Cavan Arts Festival awaits you this Saturday.

The stellar line-up includes Captain Cormac, one half of infamous comedy duo Lords of Strut. A street performance world champion and “a master at showing off”. For as long as he can remember he’s been flaunting his skills to anyone and everyone. A juggling aficionado, a lover of all things circus, and an all-round good guy, Captain Cormac is on a mission from the circus Gods; to share with the world his amazing tricks, and his out and out passion for circus, whether the world wants it or not. All you need to do is clap, cheer, and if you’re lucky, help him achieve the greatest and most dangerous juggling trick in the universe.

Circo Goyo is travelling to Cavan all the way from Patagonia, Argentina with a show that has to be seen to be believed. Circo Goyo will do things with a balloon that will have you picking your jaw up off the ground and giggling for a week.

International escapologist Monsieur Gusto brings his circus show to Cavan for the first time ever. A show that has toured the globe and has acrobatics, newspaper magic, edible juggling, and an unforgettable strait jacket escape finale, this is one show not to be missed. Highly interactive, great fun, and full of circus skills, Monsieur Gusto is a show for everyone.

If you have no time or space in your life for anything, The Horsebox Theatre has the perfect entertainment solution for you. You are cordially invited to attend a free five-minute concert in this lavish, luxurious, and thoroughly delightful, tiny Victorian theatre (built into a horsebox). Bring your Mam, your sister and her son and you’ll have made it another sell-out show! On his way back to Cavan back by popular demand, having performed 792 sellout shows at Cavan Arts Festival, The Iveagh Gardens Comedy Festival and The Dublin Horseshow (Theatre seats 4 extremely comfortably) catch the amazing, virtuosic, stupefying (incredibly Spanish) BERNIE and his magic guitar. Don’t miss Bernie and special guests as the world’s most intimate setting sets down in Cavan.

Cavan audiences will be itching to see The Flea Circus - it’s amazing! It’s spectacular! It’s astounding! It’s tiny! The show involves feats of astonishing bravery and breathtaking beauty – acrobatics, trapeze, high wire and more – all performed by highly trained, teeny tiny fleas. Jay Ryan returns having wowed audiences at Culture Night in Cavan 2022. Familiar to many as the star of RTÉ Junior’s ‘Living with a Fairy’, his Flea Circus Show will widen your smile and warm your heart.

Cicada Circus is a heartwarming tale of companionship – its ups and its downs, its joys, struggles, revenge, and desire for understanding. Two of Ireland's greatest acrobats bring this beautiful show to woo and wow Cavan audiences.

Join us as we bring the streets of Cavan alive with Bloco Garman Samba Band, DJ No Brakes on his incredible Disco Bike and perhaps even some suspicious Guards from Wexford on Horseback...
