Economic Development Services
Economic Development Services
Cavan County Council has, as one of its priorities, Economic Development in the County. A combination of infrastructure investment, sustainable and innovative land use zoning policies, inter-agency cooperation and a can-do approach to economic development has improved the attractiveness of County Cavan as a place to invest.
The County has not been immune to the affects of the global and national economic downturn. Unemployment has risen significantly and many businesses face a considerable challenge in sustaining their profitability and levels of employment. Thus, it is incumbent on Cavan County Council, along with the partner development agencies, to continue to focus on the economic development of the County.
Working in partnership with key stakeholders
We recognise the role of co-operation and co-ordination in maximising the potential of Cavan as a business location. Engaging with key stakeholders such as the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Cavan Local Enterprise Office, local Chambers of Commerce and other interested parties is a key objective of Cavan County Council .
Providing assistance in the planning process
In conjunction with the Planning Section of Cavan County Council, we aim to facilitate business during the planning process by offering relevant advice and assistance.
The Council's planning team is also available to consider and advise on major business proposals which impact on a variety of service areas.
Developing and implementing key initiatives to assist economic development
We are developing a number of initiatives to make it easier to do business in Cavan.
Promoting and marketing Cavan as a location for business and investment
Cavan town is the County Town and has been designated as a development hub under the National Spatial Strategy. This has been a spur to development and expansion in the County.
