Emergency Road Closure – L1005, Dowra
Temporary Closing of Roads pursuant to Section 75 of Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of Road Regulations 1994.
Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council has made an order to close to public traffic, the roads described hereunder from 8am Tuesday 2nd June 2026 to 5pm Friday 3rd July 2026 for the purpose of Bridge Rehabilitation works at Old Bridge (Dowra).
Road to be closed
- Local road L1005 from its junctions with the L4228 & L1006.
Alternative Routes
- Traffic travelling southwest on the L1005 wishing to continue on the L1005 will be diverted southeast onto the L1006, then south bound on the R207, then east bound on the R200 and then north bound back onto the L4228.
- Traffic travelling south on the L4228 wishing to use the L1005 will be diverted onwards onto the R200 turning east onward then turning north onto the R207 then onto the L1006 and back onto the L1005.
- Local traffic in the area will be accommodated as much as possible but there will be no through road at Old Bridge at the junction of L1005/L4228. Private residents on the L1005 will have access at all times via the L1006.
