Outdoor Dining Infrastructure

Outdoor Infrastructure, Weather proofing and Outdoor Dining Enhancement Opportunities

Cavan County Council is currently seeking to explore opportunities available due to recent funding announcements in relation to the Department of Transport “Additional Outdoor Infrastructure Fund” and the Failte Ireland “Weather proofing and Outdoor Dining Enhancement Investment Scheme.”

The purpose of the funds is to provide for short and long-term measures, which can be implemented to help create safe urban public spaces and outdoor dining spaces where people can walk, cycle, and gather outdoors this summer as society opens up in line with the expected easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Examples of measures could include (on a permanent, temporary, or initial basis):

  • Street pedestrianisation measures
  • Road/Street space reallocation, using bollards, parklets, etc
  • Traffic management arrangements
  • Publicly-owned outdoor furniture and heating
  • Other minor improvements.

Submissions are invited from those involved in the tourism and hospitality sector in towns and villages in County Cavan, as well as business organisations, development associations, community groups and other interested parties.

Please contact Kathleen Reilly/Geraldine McGrath at 049 437 8310/8311 or email info@cavancoco.ie before the Monday, 10 May 2021.
