New booklet on Community Call

The Government has issued a new booklet with information for households on community supports available through 'The Community Call'. A print copy will be posted to every home. You can view the booklet online here


Dedicated helpline to aid COVID-19 Community Supports

A new dedicated helpline, freephone 1800 300 404, is available to offer assistance to isolated and/or vulnerable members of the community in County Cavan during the COVID-19 emergency. Read more.


Update regarding Motor Tax Payments

The Motor Tax Office will remain closed to the public until further notice due to the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency. Motor tax renewals can be processed online by logging on to Read more.


Update regarding public offices

In line with the latest Government measures announced in relation to the containment of COVID-19, all offices of Cavan County Council will be closed to the public from Monday, 30th March. During this time essential services will be maintained, and payments and general queries can be conducted via email at or by phone on 049-4378300. The council’s out-of-hours emergency number is 087-6118116. Issues with water supply can be directed to Irish Water’s helpline on 1850-278278.

Suspension of Car Parking Charges - Cavan Town

Charges for car-parking on street and in car parks across Cavan Town is to be temporarily suspended until further notice for the convenience and safety of the community during the COVID-19 emergency. Read more


Public participation period in the planning system extended

The Government has agreed at the request of the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, to make an order, which has the effect of extending public participation periods in the planning system for a period of three weeks. Read more

Local Authority tenants who have experienced a change in circumstances should contact the Housing section by email on with proof of change of circumstance and details of their revised income.
