Five new groups were trained up on how to use Cavan County Council’s Property Marking Machine on the 12th November 2019. Training was delivered by Property Marking Ireland to members of Cross Community Alert, Ballyhaise Development Association, Kilnaleck Men’s Shed, Lavey Community Alert and Blacklion / Glangevlin / Dowra Community Alert. Each community group has booked to take out the Property Marking Machine to roll out Property Marking Schemes within their own local areas over the next few weeks.
Property marking is promoted by Cavan Joint Policing Committee as a way of deterring theft. It has proven to be effective in communities where it has been initiated. Including identifying information on property also supports An Garda Síochána to reunite lost or stolen items with their owners.
The Property Marking Machine is available to local community groups free of charge. It marks a wide variety of material such as wood, leather, plastic, carbon fibre and metal.
If you are interested in organising a property marking event in your local area, contact the Community & Enterprise Section of Cavan County Council to book the machine on 049 4378586 or e-mail: email@example.com
