Throughout the local election count, we will provide updates as votes are tallied from Cavan Leisure Centre.

Our thanks to all candidates, to the staff who ensured the polling and count ran so smoothly, to the staff of Cavan Leisure Centre, to the local media, and of course to the voters who turned out to engage in the democratic process

 

18:45pm Sunday: #LE19 has concluded in County Cavan. Returning Officer Eoin Doyle has declared the following candidates formally elected:

Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA

Sarah O’Reilly (Aontu), Val Smith (FG), Carmel Brady (FG), Clifford Kelly (FF), Aiden Fitzpatrick (FF), Paddy McDonald (SF)

 

Ballyjamesduff LEA

Trevor Smith (FG), Shane P O’Reilly (FF), TP O’Reilly (FG), Winston Bennett (FG), Craig Lovett (FF), Philip ‘The Gunner’ Brady (FF)

 

Cavan-Belturbet LEA

John Paul Feeley (FF), Madeleine Argue (FG), Brendan Fay (NP), Patricia Walsh (FF), Sean Smith (FF), Peter McVitty (FG)

 

18:40pm Sunday: Results from the eighth and final count in the Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA, consisting of the distribution of Bridget Boyle’s 938 votes. Carmel Brady, Clifford Kelly, Aiden Fitzpatrick, and Paddy McDonald are deemed to be elected, filling the remaining four seats #LE19 #Cavan

 

5.45pm Sunday: Results from the seventh count in the Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA, consisting of the distribution of Shirley Hall’s 880 votes. Val Smith is deemed to be elected. As Val Smith’s surplus cannot materially affect the progress of the count, the 938 votes of the lowest remaining candidate, Bridget Boyle, will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

 

4.50pm Sunday: Results of the sixth count in Bailieborough-Cootehill, consisting of the distribution of Gerry Murray’s 829 votes. As no candidate has reached the quota & there is no surplus for distribution, the remaining lowest placed candidate Shirley Hall’s votes will be redistributed #LE19 

 

4:30pm Sunday: Returning Officer Eoin Doyle has declared John Paul Feeley (FF), Madeleine Argue (FG), Brendan Fay (Non-Party), Patricia Walsh (FF), Sean Smith (FF), and Peter McVitty (FG) formally elected in the Cavan-Belturbet Local Electoral Area.

 

4:25pm Sunday: Results of the seventh count in the Cavan-Belturbet Local Electoral Area. Sean Smith and Peter McVitty are deemed elected, filling the two remaining seats in the LEA. #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

 

 

4:00pm Sunday: Result of the fifth count in the Ballyjamesduff LEA, consisting of the redistribution of Gráinne McPhillips’ 842 votes. Winston Bennett, Craig Lovett, and Philip ‘The Gunner’ Brady are deemed elected, filling the final three seats in the Ballyjamesduff LEA. #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

3:35pm Sunday: Results of the fifth count in the Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA, comprising the distribution of John O’Hare’s 699 votes. As there is no surplus for distribution, the 829 votes of Gerry Murray will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan #YourCouncil

 

15:25pm Sunday: Result of the sixth count in the Cavan-Belturbet LEA, consisting of the redistribution of Liam Van der Spek’s 761 votes. Patricia Walsh is deemed elected. Madeleine Argue’s surplus will now be distributed. #LE19 #Cavan #YourCouncil

 

 

15:13pm Sunday: Result of fourth count in Ballyjamesduff LEA, comprising the redistribution of Geraldine Harten’s 484 votes. The 842 votes of Gráinne McPhillips will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

14:51pm Sunday: Result of fourth count in Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA, comprising the re-distribution of PJ Barry’s 614 votes. As there is no surplus for distribution, John O’Hare’s 699 votes will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

14:40pm Sunday: Result of count five in the Cavan-Belturbet LEA, consisting of the distribution of Emmett Smith’s 567 votes. Brendan Fay and Madeleine Argue are deemed elected. Their surpluses cannot materially affect the count, so Liam Van der Spek’s 761 votes will now be distributed. #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

1:30pm Sunday Result of fourth count in Cavan-Belturbet LEA, consisting of the redistribution of Daniel Downey’s 435 votes. No candidate has reached the quota on this count. The 567 votes of Emmett Smith will now be re-distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

1.00pm Sunday: Result of third count in Bailieborough-Cootehill LEA, consisting of the redistribution of Sarah O’Reilly’s surplus. There is no surplus for distribution and the votes of PJ Barry will now be distributed.  #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

12.30pm Sunday: Result of the third count in the Cavan-Belturbet LEA, consisting of the distribution of John Paul Feeley’s surplus. No candidate has reached the quota on this count. Candidate Daniel Downey is deemed to be excluded and his votes will now be distributed. #LE19 #Cavan

 

Result of the second count in Ballyjamesduff LEA, consisting of the distribution of Trevor Smith’s surplus. T.P. O’Reilly is deemed elected. Shane P O’Reilly’s surplus, the next largest surplus, will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

Result of the second count in Bailieborough-Cootehill, following the distribution of eliminated candidate Mary Roche’s votes. No candidate has reached the quota on this count. The surplus of Sarah O’Reilly will now be distributed #LE19 # Cavan

 

 

10.44am Sunday: Result of the second count in the Cavan-Belturbet, following distribution of eliminated candidate Sean McKiernan’s votes. No candidate has reached the quota on this count. The surplus of elected candidate John Paul Feeley will now be distributed #LE19 #Cavan

 

 

 

Sunday, 10am: The count has recommenced at Cavan Leisure Centre, with the redistribution of Trevor Smith’s surplus in the Ballyjamesduff LEA and the votes of eliminated candidates Sean McKiernan and Mary Roche in Cavan-Belturbet and Bailieborough-Cootehill now underway #LE19 #Cavan
